Ethereal, breathtaking, and somewhat eye-catching… these are the best words to describe the Autumn/Winter 2019 make-up trends

Created to illuminate some intriguing runway garments, the Autumn/Winter 2019 make-up trends were a feast of creativity. Dominating the AW 2019 runways, we saw the rebirth of the eccentric 90s with a modern twist. Some were minimalistic, others outrageously dramatic, but numerous trends will undoubtedly end up a part of our every-day make-up looks. We’ve interpreted some of the way-out runway looks and picked the most friendly trends for you to build on for your chic new look IRL.

1. Barely there make-up

Shades of Armani ecru linen slouch suits! The early 90s were a backlash against the excesses of the 80s and the dominant colour palette was beige, greige (Angelina Jolie’s corpse-bride lips flashback, anyone?) and natural.

This autumn/winter’s interpretation holds on to the barely there/no make-up look, seen prominently on numerous Autumn/ Winter fashion week runways. Make-up artists kept it simple, using a bare minimum of foundation to enhance the models’ outer beauty without interfering with their natural skin.

You’ll find this neutral palette is also the perfect foil for the colours and textures of your ensembles in warmer tones and pretty prints.

For those less willing to face the world bare-faced, faking it with highlighters, subtle bronzing and fine-textured neutrals covers a multitude of sins. Here’s how you do it:

Skin

Natural skin is the order of the day, and a little help from these friends will give us gorgeous, radiant ‘no make-up’ skin. Our favourite foundations to get this look:

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Filter Foundation

Hide any booboos and use your contouring/highlighting skills to make the most of your assets:

Conceal blemishes with Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer or Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

Maybelline Master Bronze Colour and Highlighter kit is a great palette for all your eye and face shaping needs.

Eyes

A neutral, soft shimmer on the eye is universally flattering and a great base if you decide you want to build on your look with the trends below. We like Bourjois Little Round Pot Eye Shadow in Ingenude and Emauvante or Bourjois Smoky Eyes Trio EyeShadow in Mordoré Chic

Lashes look luscious and natural with Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara

Keep things subtle by framing the eyes softly with Revlon’s ColorStay Brow Pencil

2.  Blushing- A Flush of Blush

Probably the most charming and youthful of the Autumn/Winter 2019 Make-up trends, a touch of coral pinky blush is the easiest way to liven up anyone’s complexion and soften the face. The use of Bourjois’ Little Round Pot Blush in Rose Frisson, paired with a peachy lipstick, lends an air of romantic innocence to this Winter make-up trend. Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush in Rose Frisson.

If you’re more inclined to make a bold statement, bring on the pink (Lilas D’Or), baby! Carry it from your cheek apples along the cheekbone and even up to your temples, 80s style!

3. Lip-smacking pretty

Soft lips just a shade deeper than your natural lip colour will flatter your neutral look.

For sheer gloss: Revlon’s Irresistible Kiss Balm in Tropical Coconut or Juicy Peach or Revlon’s Kiss Plumping Lip Creme in several beautiful nude tones.

For longwearing lips: Revlon’s ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Faithful Fawn

For a sheer stain: Revlon’s Kiss Cushion Lip Tint in Pretty Kiss

Bourjois Rose Exclusif Gloss is a clever adaptable lip colour that changes with your skin’s own pH – what will yours be? A soft pink or plum?

Now all you need to do is accessor-eyes (wink, wink)…

4.  Morning- After Liner

Where would the 90s have been without grunge rolling in as a backlash to all that beige? Here we get a little grungey with smudged eyeliner in the waterline or under it. We like Revlon’s ColorStay Eyeliner, which blends (and smudges) while wet, then sets and stays put.

5.  Extreme Winged Black Eyeliner

The exaggerated use of eyeliner can either be applied to extreme lengths or all over the lid. Better yet, add a touch of colour (lip liner or wettened longwear eye shadow) to liven things up.  Revlon’s ColorStay Exactify Liquid Liner

6.  Voluminous Lashes… Heavy on the Mascara

The key to this heavy-weight lash look is multiple coats of bold volumising mascara. Revlon’s Mega Multiplier Mascara will give your natural eyelashes those voluminous lashes they’ve been yearning for. Try Revlon’s Mega Multiplier Mascara or Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara

Looking good, girl!

XOXO
